WILL I ALWAYS HAVE TO GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR IF I GO ONCE?

It is common to hear of people that they love going to their chiropractor. It is true once you experience the feeling of an aligned spine, you would want to get back in alignment once you have lost your alignment. However, the goal of upper cervical care is to get you to hold your alignment for as long as possible and see you in the least amount of time we can.

DOES THE TREATMENT HURT?

No, it literally feels like a click/tap behind the patient ear.

CAN CHIROPRACTIC CURE EVERYTHING?

The Upper Cervical Care goal is to align the spine, facilitate the nervous system and obtain optimal communication between the brain and body. Therefore a lot of conditions improve with upper cervical care.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM A PHYSICIAN TO SEE DR. MAZ?

In general, no you don't need a referral. However, depending on your insurance, some insurance might require prior authorization. We recommend you call your insurance and find out.

WHAT ARE THE INSURANCE AND COST OPTIONS FOR UPPER CERVICAL CARE?

While we are out of network with most insurance providers, your insurance may still cover your visit if you submit the necessary documents yourself. We will provide you with all the required documentation to submit to your insurance. Depending on your plan, many patients are reimbursed for their services.

The first visit includes a complimentary consultation. If your case is suitable for upper cervical care, we will proceed with the initial exam, which costs $250. Dr. Maz will then evaluate your X-rays and alignment.

On the follow-up visit, Dr. Maz will review your results, discuss your recommended care plan, and provide you with your first treatment. This visit also includes a post-treatment exam to confirm improvement in your alignment. The cost for the second visit, which includes the first treatment and post-treatment exam, is $330.

Following these initial two appointments, you will have the option to choose from different care packages to continue your alignment work and follow the recommended care plan.

WILL I GET ADJUSTED ON MY FIRST VISIT?

No, we first need to obtain baseline data about your alignment. Our doctor has to study and analyze your x-rays before providing you with the first treatment. There is no guesswork in our treatments.

WILL YOU SUGGEST EXERCISES AND OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO?

Yes, our doctor will suggest exercises to help you stabilize your alignment.

CAN SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD BACK SURGERY SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?

Absolutely, we have many patients with previous back surgery. Our procedure is a low force and completely safe with most people.

EVEN THOUGH YOU WORK ON THE NECK, WILL NUCCA HELP MY LOW BACK?

Yes. Upper Cervical Care has been studied and proven to help all spinal conditions and upper and lower extremities. Our doctor will also assist different areas of the body specifically as needed.

MY DOCTOR HAS TAKEN SOME X-RAYS OF MY SPINE, DO I STILL NEED TO GET X-RAYS AT YOUR OFFICE?

Unless you have taken Upper Cervical Specific with an Upper Cervical Chiropractor, we would still need to complete our specialized assessments to be able to get your spine into alignment. Most orthopedics, neurologists, and chiropractor doctors don't take these specific x rays we need to get you well.

What does an Upper Cervical Chiropractor do?

Upper Cervical Chiropractors restore proper head, neck, and spine alignment by performing a specific, precise, and gentle correction to the upper neck. Accidents and injuries tear loose the connective tissue that holds the spine in place, and this causes the spine to break down and lock into a stressed position. A misaligned spine frequently begins with a head or neck injury such as a motor vehicle crash, concussion, whiplash, slip or fall, sports injury, childhood injury or other trauma to the head and neck. The most common location for this type of misalignment to originate is the upper neck, otherwise known as the upper cervical spine. Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care focuses on correcting misalignments in the upper neck region of your spine. This type of misalignment can lead to a variety of debilitating symptoms and conditions, including vertigo, Ménière’s disease, dizziness, migraines, headaches, fibromyalgia, Trigeminal Neuralgia, TMJ, chronic neck pain, sciatica, low back pain and many other conditions. Washington DC Upper Cervical Chiropractic is uniquely qualified to correct upper neck misalignments to remove pressure and irritation on structures, including the brainstem and cranial nerves, effectively allowing you to restore your body’s vitality.

What happens after an upper cervical adjustment?

Each specific and precise upper neck adjustment your Upper Cervical Chiropractic Doctor does is designed to ease the C1 and C2 bones back to their proper places and alignment. Patients have varying experiences after receiving adjustments from a chiropractor trained in Orthospinology in Washington, DC Some enjoy immediate improvements, while others, especially those with severe cases of spinal misalignment, notice slight muscle stiffness that clears up in a few days. The goal of our care is to provide you with fast relief, maximum recovery, and long-lasting results.

How often should a chiropractor adjust your neck?/ How often should a chiropractor see you?

Each case of spinal misalignment is different. So, Upper Cervical Care Doctors custom design an approach based on the needs of each patient. Depending on the severity of your spinal misalignment and nerve interference and how quickly you respond to care will determine your need for follow-up care. You may need to return for subsequent adjustments for several weeks or even months after the initial session to correct and stabilize a misaligned spine. Once a misaligned spine is stabilized, it is recommended that you maintain your spinal health through visits to your Upper Cervical Chiropractor in Washington DC, much the same way that you maintain the health of your teeth by seeing your dentist.

Why do chiropractors require so many visits?

A misaligned spine may have developed over many years or even decades. Multiple visits to a chiropractic office are necessary because the bones must gradually be eased back into their natural alignment. Washington DC chiropractors use minimal force to realign C1 and C2 bones to prevent adding trauma to an already compressed or irritated brainstem, cranial nerves, and other structures. Also, it’s worth noting that chronic pain and other debilitating conditions don’t happen overnight. Hence, the healing process can also take time.

Vertigo

How can vertigo go away?

Vertigo attacks often indicate an underlying health problem. So, if you experience dizzying spells and spinning sensations, it’s a good idea to rule out the possible cause of your symptoms. This will help you determine the techniques or remedies for your situation. Some popular vertigo remedies include Upper Cervical Chiropractic in Washington DC, The Epley Maneuver, and vestibular therapy.

What causes vertigo?

Spinning sensations can stem from various problems ranging from vestibular disorders like Meniere’s and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo to nervous system issues like head trauma, spinal tumor, and stroke.

When should you worry about vertigo?

Most vertigo attacks are non-life-threatening. However, it would help if you still looked out for red flags like facial paralysis, limb numbness, thunderclap headaches, and loss of consciousness. If you spot any of these symptoms, call 911 to receive urgent medical attention.

Neck Pain

How can I relieve pain in my neck?

There is a myriad of ways you can attend to your achy neck. A few notable examples to get natural relief for neck pain in Washington DC include Upper Cervical Chiropractic, massage therapy, hot and cold therapy, acupuncture, and acupressure.

What is the most common reason for neck pain?

Poor posture and neck trauma are among the most common reasons for an achy neck. It would be best to look for other neck pain triggers like osteoarthritis, disc degeneration, muscle inflammation, and arthritis.

Who should I see for neck pain?

If you have chronic neck pain, we highly recommend consulting an upper cervical chiropractic doctor to evaluate your head, neck, and spinal alignment.
